THOMAS D. ELDER DIES LAST NIGHT

"Thomas Denton Elder, 78, died at his home here, 301 Ridgeway Avenue, last night after being ill since January with a heart ailment."

"Born the year of 1856 in Illinois, (the) deceased moved to Missouri in 1880 and since that time had made his home in this vicinity. His wife, Mrs. Hettie Marie Elder, preceded him in death by several years."

"Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. L. C. Perkins, Mrs. C. E. Gray, and Mrs. Will Carnes, all of Columbia; and six sons, M. E., Earl, J. B., W. H., Sam and Tommy Junior; a brother, Marion Elder, Kenmundy (sic--Kinmundy), Ill., a sister, Mrs. Bettie Zigler, Columbia; a half-brother, Sam Grey, Tuscala (sic--Tuscola), Ill., and 43 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren."

"Funeral services will be conducted at Parker Memorial Chapel tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The remains will remain there until time for the services. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery."

MRS. T. D. ELDER DIED AT HER HOME LAST NIGHT

"Mrs. T. D. Elder died last night at 8:10 at her home, 301 Ridgway avenue, of cancer."

"Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, January 22, at the Wilkes Boulevard Methodist Church by the Rev. P. P. Taylor at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be at Midway."

"Mrs. Elder is survived by her husband and nine children, who are: William, T. D., Samuel, Marion, Earl, J. B., and Mrs. Mary Wainscott, Mrs. Bessie Perkins and Mrs. Maggie Gray. Four brothers and two sisters also survive. The brothers are: Henry McKenzie, John McKenzie, Frank McKenzie and Ed McKenzie. The sisters are Mrs. Amadia (sic--Amanda) Small and Mrs. Dena Baldwin. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive."

Baptized 3 Apr 1836 per the records of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Knox County, Danville, Ohio.

Died at age 72. Obituary in the University Missourian: "John B. Mckinzie was injured in an accident when an automobile ran into his horse buggy. He was thrown from the buggy. Mr. T.D. Elder, his son-in-law was uninjured. Mr. McKinzie died in the home of his daughter, Mariah, 3 miles west of Columbia. Three daughters were left behind: Mrs. D. Baldwin of Litchfield, IL, Mrs. Amanda Schmoll of Centralia, and Mrs. Martha Elder of Columbia. Four sons were left behind: Henry McKenzie and John McKenzie of Columbia, Ed McKenzie of Rocheport, and Frank McKenzie of Glasgow."

John B. McKinzie was injured in an accident when an automobile ran into his

daughter, Martha (Mariah), 3 miles west of Columbia. Three daughters we

JOHN B. MCKENZIE DIED FROM AUTO ACCIDENT

"John B. McKenzie, an old and well-known citizen of Boone county, died this morning at 1 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maria Elder, three miles west of Columbia. His death was due in part to an injury received about two weeks ago when the car of a tourist traveling the State Highway struck him."

"Deceased was 80 years of age. He was a native of Ohio, but he had been living in Boone county for a number of years. Four sons, Henry and John, of Columbia; Frank of Glasgow; Edward, of Rocheport; three daughters, Mrs. Diana Bolden, of Litchfield, Ill; Mrs. Amanda Small, Centralia, and Mrs. Martha Elder, of Boone county, survive him."

"Mr. McKenzie was esteemed by all who knew him, and the family has the sympathy of many friends. Burial will take place at Rocheport at 11 o'clock tomorrow."

"Mrs. Matilda McKinzie died at her home in Rocheport at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, August 16, of cancer. She was laid at rest in the Rocheport cemetery."

"Mrs. McKinzie was born January 18, 1833, in Knox county Ohio. She was married to Mr. John McKinzie fifty-six years last October. The husband, four sons and three daughters survive. She was a noble wife and loving mother."

"With her husband, she had ever been faithful to her church and died in the Catholic faith. She was patient in her affliction and ever thoughtful of others."

"We have a fine example of loyalty in the way her son, Edward, has even been a strong right arm for his parents. He lived with them until he married and then, his home became theirs and he was ever a good son and he has the consolation that he always did everything possible for mother."
