The death certificate reads that Maurice Edward McKenzie committed suicide by strangulation. At the time of his death, he was 39 years, 3 months, and 25 days old, and he and his wife were residing in Walker, Vernon Co., MO. His wife, one Vera Ethel McKenzie, signed the death certificate as both the widow and the informant for the certificate of death. No other record exists concerning Maurice Edward McKenzie

EDWARD C. MCKENZIE

"Edward C. McKenzie, 83, of 718 West Fourth, died at the Community Nursing Home at 1:50 a.m. Thursday. He had been ill for the past ten months."

"Mr. McKenzie was born near St. Elmo, Ill., Dec. 12, 1877, the son of the late John and Matilda Logue McKenzie. The family came to Missouri when Mr. McKenzie was five years old. His boyhood and early life was spent in Boone County."

"He was married in Boone County April 17, 1901, to Miss Sarah C. Plott. They were the parents of six children. One son, Morris (sic) McKenzie, died in 1946."

"Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie lived in Boone County during their early married life, later moving to the Green Ridge community to make their home. In 1951 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Green Ridge. Mrs. McKenzie died June 14, 1954."

"Mr. McKenzie was one of a family of ten children. He was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters and one stepson, Kelly Tipton."

"Mr. McKenzie was a member of Sacred Heart Church."

"He was employed by the MKT Railroad for 38 years, prior to his retirement several years ago."

"He is survived by three sons, Aaron McKenzie, Denver, Colo., Marshall McKenzie, Moberly; and Clyde A. McKenzie, 718 West Fourth; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Tilton, Auxvasse, Mo., Mrs. Thomas Butcher, Syracuse; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive."

"Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 9:30 a.m. Friday."

"Burial will be in Green Ridge Cemetery."

"Friends will recite the rosary at the Ewing Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Thursday."

MRS. SARAH C. MCKENZIE

"Mrs. Sarah C. McKenzie, 79, of 206 West Seventh, died at the Pfetcher Nursing Home, 209 East Seventh, at 1:10 a.m. Monday. She had been ill since last December when she suffered a stroke of paralysis."

"Mrs. McKenzie was born in Henry County Oct. 11, 1874, the daughter of the late Jasper and Nancy Philpott Plot. The family moved to Howard County when she was two years old and spent her girlhood and early life in Howard and Boone Counties."

"She was married in Boone County, April 17, 1901, to Edward McKenzie. They lived most of their married life in the Green Ridge community where Mrs. McKenzie was a member of the Presbyterian Church."

"She was preceded in death by a son by a former marriage, Kelly Tipton, Columbia, who died on March 6, 1953. Another son, Morris (sic) McKenzie, died at Walker, Missouri, June 10, 1946."

"Mrs. McKenzie is survived by her husband, Edward McKenzie; three sons, Aaron McKenzie, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Marshall McKenzie, Moberly; Clyde A. McKenzie, 206 West Seventh; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Tilton, Auxvasse, Mrs. Thomas Butcher, Syracuse; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren."

Died at age 72. Obituary in the University Missourian: "John B. Mckinzie was injured in an accident when an automobile ran into his horse buggy. He was thrown from the buggy. Mr. T.D. Elder, his son-in-law was uninjured. Mr. McKinzie died in the home of his daughter, Mariah, 3 miles west of Columbia. Three daughters were left behind: Mrs. D. Baldwin of Litchfield, IL, Mrs. Amanda Schmoll of Centralia, and Mrs. Martha Elder of Columbia. Four sons were left behind: Henry McKenzie and John McKenzie of Columbia, Ed McKenzie of Rocheport, and Frank McKenzie of Glasgow."

Matilda had the name McKinzie before she married John.

JOHN B. MCKENZIE DIED FROM AUTO ACCIDENT

"John B. McKenzie, an old and well-known citizen of Boone county, died this morning at 1 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maria Elder, three miles west of Columbia. His death was due in part to an injury received about two weeks ago when the car of a tourist traveling the State Highway struck him."

"Deceased was 80 years of age. He was a native of Ohio, but he had been living in Boone county for a number of years. Four sons, Henry and John, of Columbia; Frank of Glasgow; Edward, of Rocheport; three daughters, Mrs. Diana Bolden, of Litchfield, Ill; Mrs. Amanda Small, Centralia, and Mrs. Martha Elder, of Boone county, survive him."

"Mr. McKenzie was esteemed by all who knew him, and the family has the sympathy of many friends. Burial will take place at Rocheport at 11 o'clock tomorrow."

"Mrs. Matilda McKinzie died at her home in Rocheport at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, August 16, of cancer. She was laid at rest in the Rocheport cemetery."

"Mrs. McKinzie was born January 18, 1833, in Knox county Ohio. She was married to Mr. John McKinzie fifty-six years last October. The husband, four sons and three daughters survive. She was a noble wife and loving mother."

"With her husband, she had ever been faithful to her church and died in the Catholic faith. She was patient in her affliction and ever thoughtful of others."

"We have a fine example of loyalty in the way her son, Edward, has even been a strong right arm for his parents. He lived with them until he married and then, his home became theirs and he was ever a good son and he has the consolation that he always did everything possible for mother."
