- RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Ruth Christinia Porter, 75, of Ridgeley, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born April 26, 1936, in Cumberland, Mrs. Porter was the daughter of the late Raymond Harry Brown and Lillian Arbutus (Miller) Brown. Ruth was formerly employed as a caretaker for the elderly. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Ruth is survived by her husband of 58 years, George T. Porter; her son, Robert L. Porter; her brother, Arthur T. Brown and his wife Audrie, of Cumberland, and her sisters, Dorothy J. Kerns, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Naomi V. Lynch, her twin sister, and Janice F. McBride and her husband Richard, all of Cumberland. She is also survived by her grandsons, Michael A. Porter and Mark E. Porter; and her great-granddaughter, Mia Porter. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Billie Smith officiating. Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the United Methodist Women, c/o: Diane Baker, Post Office Box 354, Ridgeley, WV 26753.
