- Mrs. Ella McGowan – Midland – Mrs. Ella McGowan, 73, widow of John E. McGowan, died early this morning at Miners Hospital, Frostburg, where she was admitted last night. She was a daughter of the late Isidore (sic)and Elizabeth (McKenzie) Garlitz. Mrs. McGowan was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Sodality of the parish. Surviving are three sons. Bernard McGowan, Worcester, Mass.; Michael McGowan, Pensacola, Fla., and Leon McGowan, Midland; three daughters, Mrs. Julia Yokum and Mrs. Theresa Patton, both of Cresaptown, and Miss Mary McGowan, Midland; two brothers, Orval (sic) Garlitz, Avilton, and Wilfred Garlitz, Amherst, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. George Winner, Midland; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body will be at the residence this evening. A requiem mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church by Rev. Linus J. McGowan, pastor, and interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Frostburg. Cumberland Evening Times Wednesday, November 14, 1956
