- Edward Patrick "Pat" Logsdon, 91, of Cumberland, formerly of Mount Savage, passed away Aug. 26, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Health System with his daughter at his bedside. Born March 11, 1926, in Frostburg, Mr. Logsdon was the son of Marshall Logsdon and Anna Mae (Bridges) Logsdon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Joan (Boyle) Logsdon; a sister, Marcella (Logsdon) Aldridge; a brother, Kenneth Logsdon; a granddaughter, Jennifer Jo Shaffer; a grandson, Mark Logsdon; his sisters-in-law, Bernadine Grove, Eileen Bridges, and Colleen Morgan; his brothers-in-law, Patrick Stephen Boyle, Homer Bridges, and Charles Aldridge; and a nephew, Randy Aldridge. Pat is survived by his daughter, Karen (Logsdon) Shaffer and husband, George Jr., Cumberland; and his son, John Patrick Logsdon and wife, Debbie, of Florida. He also leaves behind his grandsons, George Robert Shaffer III, and wife, Jocelyn, Alexandria Bay, N.Y.; Ryan Patrick Shaffer, Short Gap, W.Va.; Stephen Marshall Shaffer, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and his granddaughters, Riki Logsdon of Virginia and Jennifer Logsdon, Fallston. Pat is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Bailey Godlove, Deegan, Sarah, Gage, Sean, Anna, Leah, and Caroline Shaffer, and Bethany and Darin Logsdon; and his great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey. Pat also leaves behind his sisters, Joan (Logsdon) Clauson and husband, Bill, and Helen (Logsdon) Uncapher and husband, Bob; his sisters-in-law, Robertine Murray, Maureen Lennox and husband, Bob, Elaine Flynn, and Mary Logsdon; his special friend, Evelyn Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat retired from Kelly Springfield Tire and Rubber Company. He also worked for Chaney Trucking, Bedford, Pa., and PPG, Cumberland. He was a member of Local 307 IBEW, Old Rail Post VFW, the Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg, the Piney Mountain Sportsmen's Club, and the Evergreen Hunt Club. He was also a charter member of the EAA 426. Pat volunteered for the League for Crippled Children's auction for seven years. He was a U.S. Army/Air Corps veteran and a World War II survivor. As a member of the 486th Bomb Group and 832nd Bomb Squadron, Pat received meritous awards including the Air Force Medal and the Oak Leaf Cluster for participating in the heavy bombardment mission in the air offensive over Continental Europe. As stated with this award, the course, coolness, and skill displayed by the officers upon these occasions reflect great credit upon themselves and the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Mount Savage, on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at 10 a.m. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
