Notes |
- From Sheryl Kelso, November 2020:
Frances Hughleen's first husband was Chet Kenner. He died in WV in 1963 at Rocket Center (just a few miles from where I am sitting). Rocket Center (aka ABL) is a U.S. Naval facility that builds rocket engines. It was a horrible explosion that caused the deaths/injuries of many - there have been 3 such explosions in my memory, one of which killed a cousin of mine.
A requiem mass in memory of Chester R. Kenner, 27, Midland, will be celebrated tomorrow at l l a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, by Rev. John Sleeman. Mr. Kenner, a graduate of Bruce High School, joined ABL on April 20, 1961. A veteran of the Army, he held the rank of sergeant in the Lonaconing Military Police Unit. A native of Westernport, and son of Jonas H. and Viola C. (Riggleman) Kenner, of Westernport, his wife was the former Frances Crowe. He was a 1953 graduate of Bruce High School and served in the Navy four years. The Kenners have a daughter, Deborah R. Kenner. He also has four brothers, Richard H. and L. Cecil Kenner, both of Midland, and Ervin P. and Charles E. Kenner, who reside with their parents in Westernport. Cumberland News, Monday, April 29, 1963
