  Notes	FROSTBURG — Dr. William J. Powers, 86, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at the WMHS - Memorial Campus. Born July 14, 1921, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Frank Theodore Powers and Mary (Brady) Powers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Doctor Powers was a retired optometrist who owned and operated an office in Frostburg. He served in the U.S. Navy in China during World War II. William was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 470, Farrady Post 24 American Legion and founding member of the Maplehurst Country Club, all of Frostburg. He formerly was associated with Frostburg Lions Club and Frostburg Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Billie E. (Hahn) Powers; two sons, Kevin F. Powers and wife Marci, Albuquerque, N.M., and Joseph W. Powers and wife Kori, Pleasanton, Calif.; three grandchildren, Theodore "Ted" Powers, Albuquerque, Eryn Powers and Nicole Powers, both of Pleasanton. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. led by Father Ty Hullinger. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Michael Church, Frostburg, on Monday at 11 a.m. with Father Ty Hullinger as celebrant. Interment will be in the Saint Michael's Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Saint Michael’s School, 56 E. Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
