- Bertha Ellen Handwerk, 59, Grantsville, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Oct. 22, 1946, in Jennings, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sarah (Wilt) Wilt. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Harry Douglas; one brother, Russell Wilt; and one sister, Leora Bittinger. Mrs. Handwerk was a member of Bethesda Church of the Brethren, and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Harry B. Handwerk, whom she married June 15, 1963; three daughters, Vonda Sebold and husband Jeff, Grantsville, Marla Rugg and husband Michael, Boynton, Pa., and Julie Bunnell and husband Gary, Salisbury, Pa.; two grandsons, Derek Sebold and Walker Bunnell; and six sisters, Sylvia Platter, Goldie Wilburn, and Peggy Wilburn, all of Grantsville, Pearl Robertson, Novelty, Ohio, Elmeda Kitzmiller, Manassas Park, Va., and Dolly Drees, Finzel. A service was conducted on Wednesday, May 17, at Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment was in Grantsville Cemetery.
