Meyersdale, September 20 - The body of a World War II veteran reported missing in action while returning from a bombing mission in 1943, has been found and identified. He is Staff Sgt. James R. Murphy, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Murphy of Wellersburg. The body is scheduled to arrive here late this week for re-burial. Sgt. Murphy was listed as missing in action July 28, 1943, while returning from his third bombing mission over Germany. He was tail gunner on a Flying Fortress which went down over or near Heligoland. His parents were informed recently that his body had been found and identified. According to an official report, Sgt. Murphy was originally buried in an island grave on the island of Sylt, Germany. He was later disinterred by American Graves Registration personnel and buried in the U. S. Military Cemetery, Neuville-en-Condroz, near Leige, Belgium. Sgt. Murphy enlisted in the Army Air Force in October, 1942. He was 20 years old when he was reported missing. Surviving, besides his parents, are three brothers, W. DeLoss, Corriganville; Duane and Frederick, at home; and a sister, Mrs. Edward H. McCray, Corriganville. The Daily Courier, Connellsville, September 20, 1950
