- Conard W. DeHaven Sr., 80, of 574 Chestnut Grove Road, Winchester, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, in Winchester Medical Center. Mr. DeHaven was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Gainesboro, the son of Conard W. DeHaven and Amy B. Brown DeHaven Davis. He was the stepson of Janney Davis. He was a part-time farmer and a section foreman for Winchester & Western Railroad for 44 years. He was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. He married Iva L. Crowe on April 8, 1939, in Frostburg, Md. Surviving with his wife, are a son, Conard W. DeHaven Jr. of Winchester; a daughter, Mary Anna DeHaven Downes of Winchester; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Omps Funeral Home, with the Rev. Cletus Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gainesboro Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, 221 Gainesboro Road, Winchester 22603.
