  Notes	Miss Olive A. Cook, age 96, passed away November 9, 2012 at the Methodist Country House, where she resided since 2004. Miss Cook was born October 29, 1916 in Frostburg, Maryland. As a young woman of 20, she felt a calling to serve in the church, leading her to enroll in Western Maryland College, from which she graduated with a degree in religious education in 1944. She later attended the Hartford Theological Seminary, where she studied to become a Director of Christian Education. Her career in this field spanned 25 years, including assignments at United Methodist churches in Connecticut, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and Wilmington. In 1970 Olive began a new endeavor as a social worker, serving in the Delaware Division of Social Services for 11 years. Olive was both a Deaconess and a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church. She was an active member of Aldersgate Church for over 40 years, leading support groups for caregivers and singing with the Chancel Choir through the age of 91. She was a volunteer with Contact Delaware and the Alzheimer's Association. Olive was predeceased by her parents, Alvan O. and Arta Murphy Cook; her sister, Kathryn C. Savastano; and nephew, Thomas A. Savastano. She is survived by numerous friends and associates, and leaves to cherish her memory special friends Robert and Mary Kay Hawkins and Kitty Ann Lugar, who were her caregivers. The staff of the MCH Health Center was wonderfully dedicated and supportive during Olive's years there. A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Friday, November 30 at 11 am. Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, Maryland. Friends may remember Olive with a contribution to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Music Ministry, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.
