- Killed - Cpl. Albert Louis Murphy, 31, of Frostburg, in Italy, December 8. Cpl. Murphy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Murphy, 155 Bowery street, Frostburg, and the husband of Mrs. Jane Bond Murphy, of Gilmore, who now resides in Philadelphia. He graduated from Beall High School in 1931, and managed Woolworth stores in Danville and Philadelphia, Pa., before entering the armed forces April 11, 1943. Overseas since last April, Cpl. Murphy saw service in Italy with the Fifth Army and was killed while taking advanced training in field artillery tactics. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a brother, Edgar Murphy, of Hagerstown. The Cumberland Evening Times, December 26, 1944
He was buried on 19 Nov 1948 in Trinity UCC Cemetery, New Germany, Garrett Co., Maryland. Reburial — A reburial service for Cpl. Albert Murphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Murphy, 156 Bowery Street, Frostburg, was held last Friday at the Hafer Funeral Home, Frostburg, with interment in Trinity Reformed Cemetery, New Germany.
