- GRANTSVILLE — Dalton Orendorf Stanton, 83, of Grantsville, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born May 7, 1927, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late C. Earl and Malinda (Orendorf) Stanton. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Stanley, Leslie, Cecil, Frank and Glenn Stanton; one sister, Naomi Myers; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Stanton. Mr. Stanton was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a security guard for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. He was a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, Woodmen of the World, Camp 45, Grantsville, and enjoyed bowling, gardening and was a “jack of all trades.” Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ruth Kathleen (Crowe) Stanton; three sons, Kenneth Stanton, Waynesburg, Pa., Terry Stanton and wife Kay, Grantsville, Edward Stanton and wife Barbara, Westminster; one sister-in-law, Esther Stanton, Grantsville; nine grandchildren, Kathy, Janine, Renee, Trina, Laurie, Brittney, Emily, Mitchell and Timothy, who is currently serving in Afghanistan; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Pastor William Durst, Pastor Brenda Shreve and Pastor George Loar officiating.
