Born June 6, 1908, in Bond, he was the son of the late Jesse Wilt and Rachael (Platter) Wilt. A member of the Church of the Brethren, he was a retired construction worker and was a member of Laborers International Union of North America Local 616. He also worked as a farmer and coal miner at various times. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sarah A. (Wilt) Wilt; one son, Russell Wilt, of Grantsville; eight daughters: Mrs. Slyvia Platter, Mrs. Golda Wilburn, Mrs. Bertha Handwerk and Mrs. Dolly Fazenbaker, all of Grantsville; Mrs. Pearl Robertson, Novelty, Ohio; Mrs. Leora Bittinger, Accident, Md.; Mrs. Elemeda Kitzmiller, Fairfax, Va.; Mrs. Peggy Wilburn, Salisbury; two brothers: Dewey Wilt, Meyersdale; James Wilt, Swanton, Md.; two sisters: Mrs. Velma Bittinger, of Grantsville; Mrs. Hulda Shaffer, Meyersdale; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Connell Chaney. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
