- ESSEX — On Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, Ida C. Morgan, 100, of Essex, passed away at her home. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Wilhelm) Crowe. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Bugosh and John Morgan; three brothers, Edward, Ellis, Gilbert Crowe; and two sisters, Faye Garlitz and Mary Engle. Ida is survived by her remaining brothers and sisters, Mabel Horn, Essex, Betty Garlitz, Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Emma Walker, Avilton, Glenn and Ronnie Crowe both of Amherst, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Born on Oct. 8, 1912 in Avilton, she lived on a farm with her family. At 18, she began her career at the Celanese Corporation, then moved to Essex, where she worked for Free State Products. Ida kept busy through the years learning new skills at the Essex Senior Center. It was there she learned how to paint, garden and create ceramics. She even learned and mastered the art of quilling. Ida was so skilled with her crafts, she won several awards for her paintings, some of which have even appeared in the Baltimore Sun over the years. She celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at the old family farm. Ida received a citation from the Governor and a birthday card from the President of United States acknowledging her as a centurion. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Ann Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Father Ed Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Gilchrist Hospice or Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Cumberland Times-News, February 8, 2013
