- ECKHART — John E. "Sam" Lancaster, 58, of Eckhart, died yesterday in Miners Hospital where he had been a patient five days. He had been in ill health for a year. Mr. Lancaster's grandson, Huey L. Hamrick, seven, was fatally injured when struck by a car Friday night and was buried Monday. A native of Eckhart, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Pape) Lancaster. Mr. Lancaster was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Viva (Ryan) Lancaster; a daughter, Mrs. Shelia Hamrick, Eckhart; four sisters, Mrs. Harry Bizer and Mrs. Davis Hampill, both of Hagerstown; Mrs. Fred Valentine, LaVale, and Mrs. Henry Yates, Frostburg, and a brother, Hillary Lancaster, Eckhart. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home. Services will be conducted there tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. Richard W. Simpson. Burial will be in Eckhart Cemetery. The Cumberland News, July 27, 1966
