- ECKHART - James A. Harden, 37, of here, died Friday in University of Maryland Hospital. He had been in ill health since Sept. 30. Born in Morantown, he was a son of John Harden and Alice (Steele) Harden, Morantown. He was employed by Frostburg State College and was a member of the Frostburg C. B. Club. Surviving besides his parents are his widow, Mrs. Carolyn (Porter) Harden; one stepson, William Layton, at home; three stepdaughters, Miss Carolyn Layton, stationed with the U.S. Army in Virginia, and Miss Evelyn Layton and Miss Christine Layton, both at home; and two brothers, John Harden, Frostburg, and Ronald Harden, Morantown. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Monday at 10 a m. at the funeral home with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating. Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, January 8, 1983
