Notes |
- Mildred THOMAS (James A.-7, Ida Jane Sharp-6, Katherine Porter-5, Josiah-4, Gabriel McKenzie-3, John Thomas-2, John, the Emigrant-1) was born on 13 Mar 1922 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. Mildred, married Richard Allen Davis. Mildred was really the daughter of Hazel E. Thomas (1898-1923) and James Thomas. Hazel E.'s first husband (Malcolm Layman) had died in 1919 in a mining accident, the same year their son Malcolm was born. Hazel E. apparently never married the Thomas fellow, as her obituary lists her as Hazel Layman, although it does state that 3 small children survive. Mildred is the 3rd, born in 1922. After Hazel E.'s death in 1923, Mildred was taken to live with James' parents, Evan Llewellyn Thomas and Ida Sharp. She is listed as their daughter in their obits, but in reality, they are her grandparents. James Thomas later went on to marry Dora Willetts, I believe.
