FROSTBURG — A. Evelena Drees, 90, of Frostburg, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center. Born Aug. 27, 1925, in Finzel, she is the daughter of the late George H. and Dessa Delena (Minick) Drees. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn and Irene Drees; one brother, Ervin Drees; a brother-in-law, Ray T. Fike. Evelena was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Frostburg. She loved to crochet and was known for her beautiful pieces that she gave to her great-nieces and great-nephews. Surviving is her sister, Lilly C. Fike, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, 44 E. Main St., Frostburg on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at 11 a.m., with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant. Interment will follow in Finzel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations, in Evelena’s name be made to the Finzel Cemetery, 28 Old School House Road, Frostburg, MD 21532 or St. Michael’s Catholic Church 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, MD 21532. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center for all their care and support.
