National Highway, Frostburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Oct. 13, 1928, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Albert C. and M. Pearl (Minick) Drees. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Drees. Mr. Drees was employed by Kaiser Refractories for 25 years and also was self-employed, Harold Drees Excavating. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Big Savage Sportsmen’s Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1273. Surviving are his wife, Marian (Klosterman) Drees; two sons, Robert Drees and wife Shelley, Frostburg, and David Drees and wife Tambi, Frederick; three daughters, Sharon Ritchie and husband Rodger, Janet Walbert and husband Jay, and Lisa Crawford and husband Rich, all of Frostburg; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Drees, Jeff, Sabrina and Brandy Ritchie, Jessica, Joshua, and Janelle Walbert, and Erica Crawford; two brothers, Raymond Drees and wife Helen, and Bernard Drees and wife Doris, all of Finzel; four sisters, Mabel Miller and husband Harvey, Schellsburg, Pa., Genevieve Wilhelm and husband Carl, and Hilda Miller, all of Pocahontas, Pa., and Margaretta Festerman and husband Gene, Gap, Pa.; and one sister-in-law, Cindy Drees, Finzel. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. FOE 1273 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m. Wake service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Paul A. Byrnes as celebrant. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael’s Church, or the American Lung Association.
