- ECKHART — Mrs. Mary (Jean) Minick, 74, Beechers Avenue, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. She had been in ill health two months. A native of Finzel, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Mary Ann (McKenzie) Layton. Her husband, John W. Minick, preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Frostburg. Survivors include two sons, John (Bud) Minick, Star Route, Frostburg, and Odell Minick, LaGrange, Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Hubert McKenzie, Finzel; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Evans, El Paso, Texas, and Mrs. Jerome Wilson, Frostburg; a brother, Henry Layton, Oldtown; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. Prayers will be said at St. Michael's Church Friday at 10 a.m. and interment will be in Zion Methodist Cemetery. Requiem mass will he celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. The Cumberland News, April 7, 1971
