Deceased Name: ROBERT F. ROBERTS
Robert "Bow Wow" Franklin Roberts, 93, died at home on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010. He was born June 2, 1917, in Key West, where he lived all his life. Robert began working in the U. S. Postal Service in March 1940 as a city letter carrier.
During his 32 years of service, he carried letter route 4002 for 29 years. He also served as secretary and treasurer for the Southernmost Branch 818, NALC, Key West.
He retired from the Postal Service in November 1972.
On July 11, 1990, he became the first Branch 818 NALC Member to receive the 50-year Membership Gold Card.
He was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church from 1967 to present. Robert served in the Army. Robert enjoyed eating with his friends at the Senior Lunch program and proudly said grace before meals.
He is survived by his son, Richard Roberts (Susan); brothers, Ralph P. Roberts and Thomas F. Roberts Jr. (Barbara); grandchildren, Dawn Legge (Tim), Michelle Johnson (Chris), Heather Woodring, Holli Roberts (David), Vicky Flynn (David), Jeremy Parker (Kathryn) and Holly Schaber; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Roberts; daughter, Sally Roberts (Terry); grandson, Mark Roberts; brothers, Charles Roberts, Kermit Roberts (Dora) and Bert Roberts (Mary); and sister, Doris Cummings (Bill).
We would like to thank Dr.
John Calleja and Dr. Paz for their care during Robert's lifetime.
We want to extend a special thank you to VNA/ Hospice, especially to Mabel White and Al Waynick for their loving and considerate care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept.
11, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Burial will be in Key West City Cemetery. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
