      Obituary
"The Beecher City Journal" (Beecher City, IL) Thursday, January 14, 1932(page 1)

      "ANOTHER MOTHER CALLED"

"Mrs. C. V. Tipsword, one of the community's most highly respected mothers, passed away at 11:50 o'clock Sunday night after a lingering illness of several months."

"The deceased was the mother of eleven devoted children who will miss her more than words can express. Although the end had been momentarily expected for several weeks, her passing cast a pallor of gloom over the entire community that can be lifted only by the reflection of her kindly deeds and the thought that a most useful life has gone to its reward."

      "OBITUARY"

"Amanda A. Durbin, daughter of Benjamin and Katie Durbin was born in Fayette County, Illinois, Feb. 22, 1868, and departed this life at her home in Beecher City, January 10, 1932, aged 63 years, 10 months, and 19 days."

"She was united in marriage to Clement (sic) V. Tipsword on June 15, 1886. To this union eleven children were born: four boys and seven girls, namely: Joseph L., Mrs. Minnie A. Cresap and Mrs. Geneva B. Fortner of Monticello; Mrs. Lora C. Starkey of Rantoul; Mrs. Mayme A. Shannon of Deland; Pearl I., Leo C., William Delno, Mrs. Ruth B. Jackson, Mrs. Thelma G. Phillips, and Mrs. Florence A. Peifer all of Beecher City."

Surviving are the devoted husband, the eleven children, an aged mother--Mrs. Katie Durbin, one brother--Joseph Durbin, 19 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn their loss."

"She united with the M. E. Church South about 15 years ago and lived a devoted Christian life until death."

"She was a loving mother, a devoted companion, and true friend and a patient sufferer during her long illness."

"She is not dead but sleeping
Night came and released her from labor
When a hand from out of the darkness
      Touched her and she slept."

"We saw not the lift of the curtain
      Nor heard the invisible door
As she passed where life's problems
Will follow and vex her no more."

      "Tired! Ah, Yes! So tired,
      She shall soundly sleep tonight.
With never a dream, never a fear
      To waken in heaven's delight."

      "Sleep on, dear Mother,
      And take your rest
      God called thee home
      He thought it best."
