Cumberland Evening News, May 27, 1948 - Jesse McKenzie, 64, an employee at the B. and O YMCA here, was found dead last night at his home on Route 1, Oldtown. He lived alone. Dr. H.V. Deming, county deputy medical examiner, said the man had been dead about 10 hours. Death was attributed to a heart condition. Mr. McKenzie was born in Mineral county, W. Va., a son of Mose and Mary M. McKenzie. Survivors include a brother, Alfred McKenzie, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Butts, both of Cumberland, and a half-brother, A. A. House, Miami, Fla. The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where services will be conducted Saturday morning by Rev. Donald F. Brake, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Cumberland Evening News, May 28, 1948 - Rites for Jesse McKenzie, 64, Route 1, Oldtown, an employe at the B. and O. YMCA here, who was found dead Wednesday night at this home, will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Virginia Avenue, by Rev. Donald F. Brake, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John and Samuel House, Milton Myers and Paul, Robert and Homer Butts.
