- FROSTBURG — Velma Mary Smith, 90, of Frostburg, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Center. Born Sept. 2,1917, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Iva L. (Bittner) McKenzie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Smith; two brothers, Harold McKenzie and Ralph McKenzie; one sister, Grace Manley. Mrs. Smith was employed by the Frostburg Pajama Factory and attended the Frostburg Assembly of God Church. Surviving are one sister, Edith Taylor and husband Charles of LaVale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, PA., Frostburg on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ervin W. Mason officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Cumberland Times-News, November 18, 2007
