- CUMBERLAND - Clara Shaw (McFarlane) Paulus, 83, a resident of the Meyersdale Manor Nursing Home, formerly of 422 Virginia Avenue, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 1991, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Dec. 3, 1908, in Rawlings, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Clara (McKenzie) McFarlane. Her husband, George James Paulus, preceded her in death. Mrs. Paulus was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and served as a Red Cross volunteer during World War II. Surviving are three sons, George W. Paulus, Phoenix, Az.; James F. Paulus, Cumberland; and Thomas W. Paulus, San Jose, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, Susan Hutchins and Dwayne Paulus, Arizona; Darla Paulus and Brian Paulus, Cumberland; Diane Bee, Ricky Paulus, Daniel Paulus and Melody Nevokocha, California. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home on Virginia Avenue Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Sunday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Dennis E. Dorsch.
