Tuesday, January 19, 1999 - Cumberland Times-News - AVILTON -Howard I. McKenzie, 85, of 135 McKenzie Road, Lonaconing (Avilton), died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born May 1, 1913, in Garrett County, he was a son of the late Olin and Annie (Winner) McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen P. (Dishong) McKenzie, on Dec. 21, 1998. Mr. McKenzie was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Shrine, Avilton, and was a retired timber cutter. He is survived by his daughter, Gladys Wilhelm and husband, Larry, Lonaconing; a sister, Leora Brown, Avilton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Catholic Prayer Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery.
He was buried in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Avilton, Garrett Co., Maryland.
