      MOSCOW ó Russell C. Durst, 96, of Moscow, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at his home. Born on June 12, 1912 in Avilton, he was the son of the late William Turner Durst and Nellie (Hetz) Durst. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Alma (Garlitz) Durst; and three sisters, Anna Durst, Jennie Stark and Ethel Garlitz; son-in-law, Robert Kight; and a grandson, Jeffrey Kight. He was a member of St. Gabrielís Catholic Church in Barton. He worked for the Civil Conservation Corp. from 1933-1937. He then went to work for Potomac Edison Co. in Cumberland. During World War II he worked for Glen L. Martin in Baltimore. In 1945 he came back home to work at the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. where he retired from in 1977. He is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Kight of Frederick, Janice Durst of Moscow and Catherine Durst of Frederick; one sister, Laura Turner of Grantsville; two grandsons, Russell A. Kight and wife Laura of Frederick and Bryan Kight and wife Michelle of Hagerstown; and six great-grandchildren, Russell J., Tyler and Ryan Kight of Frederick and Melody, Bailey and Hannah Kight of Hagerstown. He will also be missed by his special canine friend of nine years, Susie. Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (eichhorn-mckenziefh.com <http://www.eichhorn-mckenziefh.com>), Lonaconing on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Gabrielís Catholic Church, Barton, by Father James Hannon, Celebrant. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to WMHS Home Hospice Care, 921 Seton Drive, Cumberland, MD 21505 and the American Heart Association, Memorial and Tributes Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. Memorial cards available at the funeral home.
