- Announce Engagement – Of Henrietta MacKenzie – Mr. and Mrs. Ernest MacKenzie, Williams Road, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Henrietta R. MacKenzie, to James Wesley Weakley, Nethers, Virginia. Miss McKenzie is a well-known young woman being employed for the past three years as secretary in the office of the Health Department of the City of Cumberland. She is a graduate of Allegany County High School, Class of 1926. Mr. Weakley is the only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Weakley. He has been employed as superintendent of maintenance and construction for the Highway Lighthouse Company, Elizabeth, N.J., making his headquarters at Baltimore. He attended Culpepper High School, Culpepper, Virginia. The wedding will be held September 8, at St. Paul’s English Lutheran Church. James W. Weakley - James W. Weakley, 61 of Winifred Road, died this morning in Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks. He had been in failing health three months. Born at Nethers, Va., he was a son of the late Robert E. and Eva (Frazier) Weakley. Employed 25 years by the Farmer’s dairy Company. Mr. Weakley held membership in Local 453 of the Teamsters Union, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Ohr Lodge, AF & AM. Surviving are his widow, Henrietta (MacKenzie) Weakley, a son, James R. Weakley, at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Jenkins, Alexandria, Va., and Mrs. Edith Foster, Harrisonburg, Va. Rev Samuel F. Sammel will officiate at the ceremony.
