- Mrs. Edith Viola MacKenzie, 83, of Winifred Road, died last night at her home after an illness of one year. Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Louise (Simons) Brotemarkle. Her husband, Ernest MacKenzie, died in 1939. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons. M. Monroe MacKenzie, city, and Luther H. MacKenzie, North Charleston, S. C.; three daughters, Mrs. Henrietta R. Weakley, city, Mrs. L. Adeline Martz, Newark, N. J., and Mrs. Helen E. Taylor, West Springfield, Va.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Ellsworth and F. Roland Brotemarkle, city; three sisters, Mrs. M. G. VanMeter, Cresaptown, Mrs. H. J. Logsdon, city, and Mrs. Nora Robinson, Baltimore. The body is at the Silcox Funeral Residence where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p. m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 p. m. and 7 until 9 p.m. The body will remain at the funeral home until noon Monday when it will be taken to St. Paul's Church for services at 2 p.m. Rev. John F. Sammel, pastor, will officiate, and interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Cumberland Evening Times, May 10, 1963.
