"The name McKinzie, like other names is spelled several ways. In Maryland the name is usually spelled McKinsey or Mckinsie or McKinzie. But in Illinois we find it spelled McKinzie or McKenzie. But in some instances, however, the name is spelled MacKinzie or MacKenzie. Those in the younger generation spelled their name McKinzie. The writer asked the wife of John V. Durbin, the daughter of Aaron McKinzie, how the name was spelled and she said McKinzie, and he exchanged letters with John and Gabriel M. McKinzie, sons of gabriel M., brother of Aaron McKinzie, and they signed their name McKinzie, also."
