    Notes
    • George “Eddie” Edward Wilhelm Sr., born December 3, 1936 in Barrelville to Carl & Mary (Crump) Wilhelm. Preceded in death by second wife, Doretha Jane Wilhelm and son-in-law Vance Troutman.

Survived by children, Margie Troutman (Gene Stradley), Jake (Leslie) Wilhelm and Tammy (Joe) McKenzie. Grandchildren Joey (Tracy) McKenzie, Danielle (Rodney) Mock, Matthew (Alisha) Troutman, Brandi (Justin) Rhoads, Andrew Troutman & Fiancée Brandi Bittinger, Tashina and Kiya Wilhelm and seven great grandchildren. Sisters, Anita Rogers, Mary Sue and very special brother-in-law Darrell Glass, who was always there for dad.

After graduation from high school dad worked in the timber business for Louie Diehl and then began his own trucking business, E&E Trucking, in 1960. He began by hauling coal and for a short period did over the road hauling. By the mid 1970’s dad had a total of eleven rigs with one over the road rig. His fleet consisted mostly of Mack Trucks because dad always said if you want a truck for show buy a Peterbuilt and if you want a truck for work buy a Mack. Every Saturday and Sunday he took care of his trucks by doing repairs, changing tires and oil to keep them in good running condition. During the winter months he laid on the cold ground, never having a warm garage to do repairs. He taught many local young men how to drive the “big rigs” before truck driving schools were popular to teach truck driving. This in turn gave the men a skill to go out and obtain a job to provide for their families. Sometimes he was known to not have great patience with is drivers but he had a quick wit to make everyone laugh and was always ready to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Dad was also known as Big “E” or troublemaker as his CB handle in the trucking industry.

His favorite pastime was fishing the Ottawa River at Ken Loya’s Lodge and hunting whitetail deer at Dixon McFarlane’s sporting camp in New Brunswick, Canada with a large gathering of friends. Local hunting seasons were shared with one of his closest friends Blaine McKenzie. Most Friday evenings were shared with friends at Frank Johns reminiscing of the work week or old times while enjoying a cold Miller High Life. He was a member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, Kennells Mill Sportsman’s Club and supported the NRA.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Walter “Buddy” Harper, dad’s special friend, for visiting on a regular basis and taking dad to many doctor appointments. We would also like to thank the staff at WMHS Nursing & Rehab Center, Dr. Khanna, Dr. Janjua, and Dr. Amir

In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to St. Georges Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 655 Mt. Savage, MD 21545, and “There is a Santa” c/o Barrelville Outdoors Club, 13916 Barrelville Rd NW, Mt. Savage, MD 21545. Durst Funeral obituary. January 2, 2014
