- Got the obit on Cyrus McKenzie in the mail today, it was in the Brown County World, dated Friday, August 31, 1923:
"McKinzie - Cyrus McKinzie died Monday morning at 10 o'clock at his home in Morrill. He was stricken with apoplexy, Aug. 22. He was 54 years old last December, has been in business on Main street in Morrill for the past 30 years, serving as postmaster for the past 8 years. He was formerly assistant cashier in the Citizen's bank. Mr. McKinzie is survived by his mother, Mrs. W. H. H. Sawyer, and a half-brother, Lon Wagner. It is said that he perhaps had more friends than anyone in Morrill. Mr. McKinzie was a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to the Kansas City, Kansas Consistory. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Brick church. Rev. Mr. Kemper, of Carelton, Nebraska conducted the service. The Masons had charge at the grave. Interment was in Morrill cemetery." Looks like date of death was 27 August 1923. According to obit, Harry Wagner must have already passed away.
