- FRESNO, Calif. — Marilyn Lea (Wilhelm) Muir, 80, of Fresno, formerly of Lonaconing, died on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Saint Agnes Hospital in Fresno. Born on Oct. 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Scott Olin Wilhelm and late Laura Ellen (Durst) Wilhelm. In addition, her husband Robert George Muir, formerly of Lonaconing, preceded Marilyn in death as well as siblings, Larry Wilhelm, of Lonaconing and Beverly Wilhelm Moler, of Fresno, Calif. Marilyn worked at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland prior to relocating with her family to Fresno. She retired from the Veteran's Hospital in Fresno after almost 30 years of working at the VA Hospital. She enjoyed her nursing career everyday. Marilyn was known for her kindness, generosity and humor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, playing cards, sitting in her back yard in the sun, traveling and collecting cookbooks. Above all things Marilyn loved her family and friends. Marilyn was a member of the following organizations, Tehran Temple, Shrine Widow, Temple Bells, Daughters of the Nile and the VA Retirees Lunch Group. Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Central High School, Lonaconing, and a 1953 graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Cumberland. One daughter, Lori Muir-Gutierrez and husband Sergio and one grandson, Michael, of Fresno.; one son, Andrew Robert Muir (Andy) and wife Kim and two grandchildren, Andrew and Morgan, of Yelm, Wash., survive her. Marilyn is also survived by one sister, Carol Wilhelm Beeman and husband William R. Beeman, of Barton; brothers, Roger F. Wilhelm and wife Sharon, of Barton, Wendell (Scotty) Wilhelm, who lived with Marilyn in Fresno, Darrell Wilhelm and wife Carolyn, of Hagerstown, Stephen Wilhelm and wife Patty, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Michael Wilhelm and girlfriend Karen Getson of Lonaconing. Larry has a surviving spouse, Gladys Wilhelm, of Lonaconing, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive Marilyn. There will be a small memorial service later in April for family and friend to be held in Fresno.
