He died on 29 Jan 2009 in Savannah, Georgia. Tuesday, February 3, 2009, Somerset Daily American - Jerry Eugene Meyers, 64, Savannah, Ga., formerly of Leesburg, Va., and Somerset, lost his battle with cancer and passed away at Savannah Hospice Hospital on Jan. 29, 2009. Born Nov. 21, 1944, in Indiana, Pa., son of the late Ira and Kathleen (Canton) Meyers. Survived by wife Florence (Cleyman) Meyers of Savannah, Ga.; brother Joseph Meyers of Somerset; and sister Judy, married to Foster Klink of Pittsburgh. Survived by children, son Bryan of Upland, Ind. and wife Lori, daughter Melissa of Johnstown and fiance John Todaro, stepson Peter Cleyman and wife Elizabeth of Tampa, Fla., stepdaughter Laurie Cleyman of Savannah, Ga.; and mother-in-law Mary Lou Bydoof, Jacksonville, Fla. Survived by nine grandchildren, Kenneth Meyers of Kentucky, Karan Meyers, Andrew and Sami Bowser of Upland, Ind., Tristan and Tanner Todaro of Johnstown, Joshua, Alex and Julia Cleyman of Tampa, Fla. Also survived by several great-aunts and nieces and nephews. Jerry was a member of the Moose 1550 Club of Savannah, Ga., where a memorial service was held for him on Saturday, Jan. 31, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Somerset, American Legion of Stoystown, and The VFW of Somerset. As requested by the deceased, no viewing will be held. There will be a memorial service held for him in late March at Memorial Park Cemetery in Somerset. The date and time will be given later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Somerset or Savannah Hospice Hospital, Savannah, Ga. Dad will be sadly missed by all of us, we know he's in a better place and at peace.
