- MRS. SAMUEL McKenzie FROSTBURG — Mrs. Emma McKenzie, 83, of Borden Shaft, died in Miners Hospital yesterday. She was admitted to the hospital Friday and had been in failing health two years. Born in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Hetz) Croft and was the last of her immediate family. Twice married, both husbands, Philander Beeman and Samuel McKenzie, preceded her in death. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons by the first marriage, Gurney and Gilbert Beeman, both of Frostburg; four children by the second marriage, including two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Wilson, Shaft; Miss lona McKenzie Washington, D.C.; two sons, Samuel McKenzie Jr., Vale Summit; Robert McKenzie, Shaft; three stepchildren, Mrs. Virginia Carney, and Mrs. Bonnie Delaney, both of Detroit, Mich.; Charles T. McKenzie, Frostburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Blaine Rinker will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Garrett County. The Cumberland Sunday Times, June 20, 1971.
