- Steve was the grandson of Mary Alice McKenzie and Edward Joseph Loraditch:
Stephen “Steve” H. Pope, 75, of Salisbury, passed away following a brief illness on September 22, 2017 at home. Born September 17, 1942 in Frostburg, Maryland, the son of Claude S. and Regina (Loraditch) Pope. Preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Father Benedict Pope OFM Cap. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna (Oester) Pope; daughter: Faith Ritchie and husband Jody, Frostburg, Maryland; brother of: James (Delores) Pope, Gaithersburg; Eugene Pope, Salisbury; Earl (Rosezita) Pope, Mt. Savage, MD; and David Pope, Grantsville, Maryland. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was a 1960 graduate of Salisbury Elk Lick High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served 1 year in Seoul, South Korea as an MP. Steve was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, West Salisbury; the Grantsville American Legion, Post 214; Vietnam Veterans of America; the Salisbury VFW; and was a 50 year member of the Salisbury Fire Department. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, West Salisbury, with Father Francis Fugini OFM Cap. Committal to follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Avilton, Maryland, with military graveside rites by the Grantsville American Legion, Post 214.
