- Frostburg, Md., Feb. 9 — Bernard, aged 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Finzel, was instantly killed in the mines at Kenney’s Creek, W.Va., where he and his father were employed. The family left Frostburg one year ago. Remains will be brought here and burial will take place at Finzel, Md. Cumberland Press, Wednesday, February 9, 1916
The remains of Bernard Finzel were taken to the home of Henry Finzel last evening. The father states they had just finished their shift in the mine and was going back to put on their clothes when a large pot in the rock roof gave away. The father was also caught with it and knocked unconscious. The boy was badly crushed. Cumberland Press, Thursday, February 10, 1916
He was buried in Finzel Cemetery, Finzel, Garrett Co., Maryland.
