- Frostburg, Maryland - Joseph Richard McKenzie, Sr., 81, formerly of here, died Thursday at Prince George Nursing Care Center in Cheverly. Born in Lonaconing, Md. he was the son of the late Leo McKenzie and Eleanor (Coleman) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a retied shipping clerk for the General Bobbin Company in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Mount ranier. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rachel (Rowe) McKenzie, seven sons, Joseph R. McKenzie, Jr., Eckhart, Md./ David McKenzie, Chicago, Illinois, James McKenzie, Falls Church, Va., John E. McKenzie and Kenneth McKenzie, both of Leesburg, Va., Joseph H. Rowe, Indian Head, and Ronald W. McKenzie, Allentown, Pa., one daughter, Mrs. Linda J. Cox, Greenbelt, one brother, Robert McKenzie, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Shoemaker and Mrs. Mary Monroe, all of Gilmore, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Cumberland News, December 17, 1983.
