- Roy Raymond McKenzie was born November 27, 1922, in Shiningbank, Alberta. He enlisted in WWII with the Canadian Army and received the 1939-1945 War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service medal and the Defence Medal. Harold died on May 16, 2000. Roy died on August 15, 1951.
From Del Pierce#933-: Uncle Roy was 6' 6" tall and nicknamed "Slim".
Uncle Roy was in the Tank Division in WWII. He was wounded (shrapnel) which
took over one year of surgery and rehabilation in the east,before he came home.
He also had a girl-friend in Holland.
He was hit by a ca rand died while changing at ire on the hi-way at Elk Island Park,
just east of Edmonton.
He was buried at St.Mary's Cemetery at Westlock AB.

Inquest Is Opened In Highway Death - VEGREVILLE - Dr. R. M. Reid, district coroner, opened an inquest here into the death of Roy Raymond McKenzie, 27, who died Wednesday night in a highway accident. McKenzie stopped his truck on Highway No. 16, a mile west of Mundare and about 50 miles east of Edmonton, to change a tire. Bill Summers, Edmonton, driver of a panel truck, lent McKenzie a jack and while McKenzie was changing the flat tire, a gasoline tank truck struck the rear end of his half-ton truck. McKenzie's body was carried 93 feet down the highway by the impact. McKenzie was in the plastering business with two brothers, Harold and Tom McKenzie, of Westlock. He is also survived by his father, Anthony McKenzie, and four sisters, Mrs. Earl Killips and Mrs. Phillip Criss, of Edmonton, Mrs. Jack Pierce and Mrs. Joseph Pierce, of Fort Saskatchewan.
