FROSTBURG — John W. “Bill” McKenzie Sr., 71, of National Highway, Frostburg, died Sunday, April 14, 1996, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born March 9, 1925, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late John William and Virginia Grace (Michaels) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was retired from Kaiser Refractories. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Frostburg Moose 348; Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1273; and Fraternal Order of Police, Frostburg. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn (Raley) McKenzie; one son, John W. McKenzie Jr. and wife Linda, Frostburg; two daughters, Barbara Martin and fiance Victor Werner, Finzel, and Nancy Carpenter and husband John, Cumberland; three sisters, Mildred Mmnick, Evelyn Shriver and Thelma Raley, all of Frostburg; two brothers, Francis “Dick” McKenzie and Eugene “Flooze” McKenzie, both of Finzel; five grandchildren, Melissa Kenney and husband Mark, Scott Carpenter, Jennifer Yoak and husband Jamie, Kristi Carpenter and Laura McKenzie; and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Yoak. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Tuesday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17, at 9:30 a.m. with Father Edward S.
