BREIG, George FRANCIS (8 OCT 1865 - 21 MAR 1944)
George F. Breig, 79, retired electrical contractor of Vandergrift, PA, died last night in Pittsburgh Hospital. Mr. Breig, who had been living with a son, Joseph A. Breig, at 1307 Creedmore Ave., Brookline, was a member of the Oblates of St. Benedict at St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe. Son of the late Ambrose and Margaret Patton Breig, he was born in Salisbury, PA and spent his early life in Meyersdale, PA. In 1898, he married Clara E. McKenzie. He established an electrical contracting business and installed wiring in many of the larger buildings there and in Leechburg and Apollo before retiring in 1934. He assisted in organizing the George G. McMurty Volunteer Fire Co. and was its first chief. Surviving are his widow, two daughters, Sister Regina Clare of the Sisters of Charity, principal of the Elizabeth Seton High School, Brookline; two sons, Robert of Jeanette and Joseph; and four grandchildren. Requiem high mass will be sung Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection, Brookline. Burial will be private in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Vandergrift. [Transcription by Betty Smith]
