- CRESAPTOWN - Susan Frances Habersack, 87, of Cresaptown, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Aug. 13, 1917, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Augustus Joseph and Gladys (Chisholm) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Mason McKenzie, Harry Vincent McKenzie, Paul Elwood McKenzie and Augustus McKenzie Jr.; one sister, Shirley Ann Diehl; three grandchildren, Melinda and Gina Habersack and Harvey Rockwell Jr.; and one daughter-in-law, Lorraine Habersack. Mrs. Habersack was a housewife and mother. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and she enjoyed gardening and painting with acrylics. Surviving are her husband, Elmer Joseph Habersack, whom she married Oct. 28, 1937; two daughters, Susan Marie Burkett and husband Alvin, Bellevue, Neb., and Patricia Ann Manis and husband Willie, Barrelville; two sons, James Joseph Habersack and wife Vickie, and Stephen John Habersack and wife Suella, all of Cresaptown; nine grandchildren, Philip and John Burkett and Mary Ann VanDyke, Omaha, Neb., Diane Johnson, Bellevue, Patricia Dean, Richmond, Va., Rebecca Buhl, Cumberland, Brenda Liller, Westminster, Matthew Habersack, Christiansburg, Va., and Christopher Habersack, Cresaptown; 15 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Harris, Seattle, Wash., Melissa Harris, Olympia, Wash., Jacob, Luke and Marcia VanDyke, England, Jacquelyn, Stephanie and Joseph Allison, Bellevue, Jessica and Charlotte Dean, Richmond, Joseph Buhl, Knoxville, Tenn., Harvey III and Kyle Rockwell, Marriottsville, Denny Raabe and Wyatt Liller, Westminster; and one great- granddaughter, Hannah Buhl, Westminster; two sisters, Joan Haines, Glencoe, Pa., and Mary Faith Kennell and husband Ray, Kennells Mill, Pa.; three brothers, James Augustus McKenzie and wife Bessie, Corriganville, John Tolbert McKenzie and wife Reda and Frederick, and Joseph McKenzie and wife Virginia, all of Wellersburg; three sisters-in-law, Verna McKenzie, Paw Paw, W.Va., Esther Bucy, Wellersburg, and Betty McKenzie, Glencoe; one brother-in-law, Joseph Orville Diehl, Mount Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Father James Kurtz, O.F.M. Cap. as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Ambrose Church Building Fund. Cumberland Times-News
