  Notes	Notes for James JOHN MANOS: According to family tradition: (Source: James Albert Kay, son of Charles Marshall Kay, 1st cousin to Rossie Kay Manos) John Konstantine Manos and son, James Manos, were stranded in Greece during WW II during a business trip.. They both returned to the Port of NY on April 22, 1946 on the S.S. Hawser Splice sailing from Piraeus, Greece, having departed the United States in April 1939, according to the manifest. During the Nazi occupation of Greece, James, unable to serve in American military service, joined and fought with the British and Greek underground. His Greek cousin, according to Kay family oral history was executed by the Nazi's for not disclosing James' location. The execution was witnessed from an attic window by James Manos. OBIT: Tues. Oct. 12, 1982, James Manos - James John Manos, 61, of 50 E. Circle Ave., died Monday. He was a retired employee of Prudential Insurance Co. Surviving are his wife, Louise McClanahan Manos of the home; daughters, Marilyn M. Keith of Greenville and Susan L. Manos of Alexandria, VA; and sister, Georgia Manatis of Spartanburg, Elizabeth Vagias of Baden, Pa. and Catherine Kerhulas of Bakersfield, CA. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wed. the Mackey Mortuary. Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorial may be made of the Heart Fund, 209 East Stone Ave., SC 29609 SSDI: James Manos b. 30 Apr. 1921 d.
