- Mrs. Catherine R. Kelly, 66, of 1009 Brown Avenue, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 1988, in Sacred Heart Hospital’s Hospice Unit. Born in Cumberland Jan. 22, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Katherine (Boch) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Kelly. A 1940 graduate of Ursuline Academy, Mrs. Kelly was employed as an executive secretary at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. A graduate of Catherman's Business School, she was formerly employed at Rosenbaum’s Department Store. A volunteer at Bishop Walsh High School Cafeteria, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Sodality of the church. Surviving are three brothers, Ambrose R. McKenzie, Cumberland; Paul M. McKenzie, Olney; and Leo E. McKenzie, Fulton; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Strong, Westernport; Mrs. Helen Cessna, Gaithersburg; and Mrs. Bernadette Browning, Silver Spring; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home,Virginia Avenue, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Robert F. Hopkins. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributons to the Stephen McKenzie Leukemia Fund, P.O.Box 280, Rawlings, Md. 21557, or the Neumann Early Childhood Center, 209 North Centre Street, Cumberland, Md. 21502.
