- MRS. MARIA KELLEY
One of the oldest residents of the city peacefully passed away at the house of her daughter, Mrs. Lucy Holliday, 708 Thirteenth street, at 2 o'clock this morning. Her death was the result of diseases incident to old age and, while it naturally came as a shock to her children and friends, her demise was not unexpected. She was born in Somerset County, MD (sic) on June 22, 1833. and came to this city in 1863. Her husband, John Kelley, has been dead for many years and she is survived by two sons and three daughters who mourn the loss of a kind and faithful mother. Her surviving children are Jesse F. and William, Mrs. Clara Beason and Mrs. Rebecca Beason, all of this city, and Misses Sarah and Annie at home. The deceased lady was a member of the second Lutheran church and her life was an exposition of the Christian virtues. Kind, sympathetic, and unobtrusive, she leaves many friends outside the immediate circle of her family who will miss her presence in the community. The funeral arrangements have not been completed but the interment will take place on Saturday afternoon.
