  Notes	Memorial Services for William (Bud) C. Hewett are scheduled for Friday, February 26th at 1:00PM at Moles Farewell Tributes-Greenacres (5700 NW Dr. Ferndale). Bud was 94 years old. Bud was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 5, 1922 to William and Mary Hewett. He moved with his parents and sisters Fern (Foster), Shirley ( Moore) and Tonnie (Reitan) to Washington State in 1939. He was filled with adventure as husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, business man, and traveler. Bud was the oldest of four children with three sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents , his wife and all of his siblings. He is survived by his children Pat Higman (Ernie) of Lynden, Mel Hewett of Ferndale, Bill Hewett (Teri) of Bellingham and Greg Hewett ( Neil) of Bellevue. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Bud and his wife Charmie were married in 1948 and celebrated 65 years of marriage a few days before Charmies' death in 2013. They opened the Color Pot decorating store in Bellingham in 1953 and operated it for almost 40 years. (Their son Bill continues the family tradition to this day.) Previous to his store ownership, Bud worked for the city of Bellingham. He also served in the United States Air Force and fought in World War II in Europe. Bud was one of the oldest veterans in Whatcom County at the time of his death. He retired in 1996 and spent many winters with Charmie in Arizona, where he continued to play golf and tennis well past the time most men would be content sitting in their recliner. Bud was an avid and formidable card player; in fact, he skunked his grandson Bill at crib just a few days before his death. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and children. Bud touched the lives of many with his generosity, sense of humor, and great story telling. He will be dearly missed by many and remembered fondly by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bud's name to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation.
